For months, every call to action I wrote said some version of "subscribe to my newsletter." Almost nobody subscribed.

That stung a little, but it was fair. A bare ask for an email address is not an offer. It is a chore with a vague promise attached. You are asking a stranger to trust that your future emails will be worth their time, and they have no reason to believe you yet.

So I changed the deal. Instead of asking for the signup, I give away the actual skills my AI crew runs on. Free. One email, instant download, and the newsletter comes along as the bonus instead of the pitch.

That is the whole playbook. Everything below is how it works, what is in the pack, and the mistake I made on launch day.

The pattern I kept seeing

I did not invent this. I kept watching creators I trust make the same move: give away a working tool instead of a PDF guide. A template that does a real job beats a document that only describes one. After I saw it work five separate times, I stopped treating it as a trick and started treating it as the strategy.

The rule I took from it is simple. The free gift has to be the real thing. Not a watered-down version. Not a teaser with the good parts held back. The actual tool, the one you use yourself. Anything less, and smart people smell it right away.

What a skill actually is

If you have never used one, a skill is a file that teaches your AI agent how to do one job well. You install it once. After that, you just talk normally. You say "make a launch video," and the agent already knows the workflow, the steps, and the standards, because the skill taught it.

It is the difference between hiring someone and handing them a sticky note, versus hiring someone and handing them the training manual your best employee wrote. Same person. Very different results.

Here is what that looks like in real life. When I finish building something, I used to spend an evening writing a script, recording narration, cutting the video, and adding captions. Now I say "make a launch video" and the agent follows the same steps I would, in the same order, to the same standard, because the skill holds all of it. I still review the result before it goes out. The skill does the heavy lifting, not the deciding.

The skills in this pack work with Claude Code, Hermes, Codex, and other agents that support skills. If you run any of those, the pack plugs right in.

What is in the pack today

The pack has grown since launch. Today it holds 10 core skills plus 3 bonus business skills, 13 in total. Every one of them is a tool my crew uses for real work.

The 10 core skills:

1. Launch Video. Turn anything you build into a short promo video, vertical, narrated, captioned, with music. 2. Dub Video. Dub any video's narration into another language, timed to the original, mixed over the music. 3. Hooks and Captions. Hooks that stop the scroll, 2 to 3 options, the full script structure, and the caption rules. 4. Clipify. Cut a long video into shorts automatically. It finds the best moments, reframes to vertical, and burns in captions. 5. Content Cascade. One video becomes a blog post, a thread, and a LinkedIn post. 6. Unslop. Strips the AI tells out of any text before you publish it. 7. Build Your Board. An AI board of advisors for hard decisions. You pick seats from a roster of 41 world-class operators, run two rounds of structured debate, and get a scored verdict. 8. Grill Before Build. A relentless pre-build interview. The agent maps the whole build and settles every open decision before any building starts. 9. Proven Claims Check. Every claim in your copy gets checked against what is actually proven before it publishes. 10. Story Spine. Turn anything that really happened into content people remember. One hook, the beats in order, one clear lesson.

And the 3 bonus business skills:

11. Draft Cold Email. Cold outreach grounded in real research. Nothing sends without your approval. 12. Proposal Builder. Turns discovery notes into a clean, costed proposal. The "not included" section protects your scope. 13. Review Reputation. Pulls themes from customer reviews in the customers' own words, and drafts replies in the owner's voice.

Before the pack shipped, every skill was audited for hardcoded secrets and personal information. It came back clean. The whole pack is MIT licensed, which means anyone can use these skills, even in paid client work. No strings.

The plumbing

The landing page is https://infanodes.com/skill-pack.html. The email capture runs on my own site. You put in one email, the download starts right away, and you are on the newsletter list as part of the deal. There is no drip sequence and no waiting. The gift arrives the second you ask for it, because speed is part of the gift.

One more thing matters here. This single pack now drives every call to action I write. One lead magnet, everywhere. I am not asking people to pick between three different links anymore. Every post, every video, every page points at the same free thing.

The mistake I made on launch day

Launch morning, I added the bonus skills to the page. Then a newsletter went out saying "six skills," while the page it linked to said nine. Both were live at the same time, and they disagreed with each other.

We caught it within hours and fixed it the same day by framing the page clearly, core skills in one group and bonus skills in another. Nobody was harmed, but it taught me the lesson I now pass on to anyone who will listen: write the page copy and the email copy in the same sitting. One sitting, one source of truth. The mismatch happened because the two were written hours apart, from two different versions of the plan.

Since that day the pack has kept growing, from 9 skills to the 13 it holds now. The framing held. Core in one group, bonus in another, and every new skill gets announced in the same words everywhere it appears.

Why giving it away does not scare me

People ask if I worry that someone will take the pack and never need me. I do not, for two plain reasons.

First, a skill is instructions, not results. Handing someone my training manual does not hand them my crew, my judgment, or the hours I spend reviewing what comes back. The tool helps. The person still has to steer it.

Second, the people who download a working tool and put it to use are exactly the people I want reading my newsletter. They are builders. If the pack helps them ship something real, they remember where it came from. That is worth more to me than a guarded file on my hard drive helping nobody.

The playbook, in five lines

1. One lead magnet. Not three. One. 2. The freebie is the real tool, not a teaser. 3. It arrives instantly. Speed is part of the gift. 4. Every call to action names the freebie up front. Never a bare "subscribe." 5. Free gifts win. You are not convincing anyone. You are handing them something useful and letting the work speak.

An honest word about results

It is early. I do not have conversion numbers worth publishing yet, and I will not invent any. What I have is a system built on a pattern I watched work five times, a pack I am proud to hand out, and a first stumble that was already fixed in public. When there are real numbers, good or bad, I will share them here.
